March 24, (THEWILL) – Newly appointed Wamban Kano and District Head of Bichi, Alhaji Munir Sanusi Bayero, has commended the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, for his role in uniting the descendants of the late Emir of Kano, Malam Ibrahim Dabo.
Speaking shortly after assuming office to a rousing welcome from residents, Bayero acknowledged Emir Sanusi’s efforts in restoring long-lost royal titles and strengthening the Dabo dynasty.
“Since the era of Emir Dabo, no leader has worked harder than Emir Sanusi II to reunite this family. Many royal houses that have been restored today lost their titles over 131 years ago, during the 1893 Kano Civil War,” he said.
Bayero highlighted the Emir’s vision of unity, which he said has eliminated divisions within the dynasty, ensuring that every descendant of Dabo is treated equally in the eyes of tradition and leadership.
Expressing gratitude for his new role as District Head of Bichi, a position previously held by his elder brother, Wambai Abubakar, Bayero reaffirmed his commitment to upholding the dynasty’s legacy.
He also underscored the historical significance of Bichi, noting its deep-rooted connection to the Kano royal family.
He traced its leadership lineage from Emir Abdullahi Bayero, the first District Head, to his son, Khalifa Sir Muhammadu Sanusi, who later became Chiroman Kano.
Reflecting on his elevation to the title of Wambai, Bayero described Emir Sanusi’s mentorship as invaluable, adding, “When he elevated me to the title of Wambai, his speech meant more to me than the title itself.”
He also commended Governor Abba Yusuf for his contributions toward restoring the dignity of the Dabo dynasty and strengthening the Kano Emirate.
“We are proud of his work. Abba is a true leader, always stepping up to fulfill the needs of the people,” he said.
The Wamban Kano assured the Emir, the Kano State Government, and the people of Bichi of his commitment to leading with honesty, fairness, and dedication.
