August 04, (THEWILL) – The Deputy Governor of Edo state, Philip Shaibu, has shown intention to withdraw the suit he filed against his Principal, Godwin Obaseki, THEWILL reports.
Comrade Shaibu had approached the Federal High Court, Abuja, to seek protection from impeachment.
According to the Court papers sighted by THEWILL, the deputy governor, in a motion of notice brought before the Court, is asking for an order of interlocutory injunction, restraining the respondents or their agents from harassing, intimidating, embarrassing or preventing him from carrying out the functions of his office as Deputy Governor of Edo State including attending State Executive Council meetings and other functions pending the determination of the substantive suit.
Listed as Defendant include the Inspector General of Police, State Security Service, the Governor of Edo State, Speaker Edo House of Assembly and the Chief Judge of Edo State.
However, sources close to the Deputy Governor, told THEWILL that he is currently considering either to withdraw the suit, owing to the backslash it attracted.
Shaibu, according to our source, had approached the court with the misconception that Governor Obaseki was planning to remove him as Deputy over his ambition to contest the 2024 gubernatorial election in the State.
