SAN FRANCISCO, September 23, (THEWILL) – An enlarge meeting of PDP leaders and stakeholders in Edo North Senatorial district of Edo State that was recently convened to deliberate on party issues confronting the senatorial district has disassociate themselves from media reports in what purportedly claimed that Chief Mike Oghiadomhe, the Chief of Staff to the President of Nigeria, has been removed as leader of the party in the Senatorial District.
In a press statement signed by Sheik Mukhtar Elinoba, the PDP Chairman Etsako Central Local Government Area who also doubles as the Chairman of PDP LGA Chairman in Edo North Senatorial District said Chief Mike Oghiadomhe remains the recognized leader of the party. He described the purported removal as unpopular and undemocratic adding that the meeting where the decision was taken was sectional and not properly constituted.
Sheik Mukhtar recalled few years back how party stalwarts were unanimous in their resolve that Chief Mike Oghiadomhe was the right person to lead the party ahead of future challenges noting that singular decision yielded immense benefits for the party hence the need to maintain the status quo.
Reaffirming the capability of Oghiadomhe to reposition the party in Edo North ahead of 2015 general elections, the leaders at the meeting appreciated the chief of staff for finding time out of his busy schedules to work for the party and improve its electoral fortunes in the zone, in liaison with other leaders.
On the vote of confidence passed on Chief Mike Oghiadomhe leadership, Mukhtar said it was an easy task accomplished as leaders at the meeting were unanimous about his status as bridge builder, consummate politician and co-founder.
The release urged all PDP members to be loyal to the party adding that the leaders are all in the process of reconciliation, rebuilding and repositioning for the future and resist attempts by persons or groups to factionalize the party in the district.
Part of the release read: “That Chief Mike Oghiadomhe who is presently the Chief of Staff to the President, remains the recognized leader of the Party.
“Pledge their Loyalty and allegiance to the Party National Chairman, Dr Bamanga Tukur, National Working Committee and the revered Chairman PDP Board of Trustees, Chief Tony Anenih.
“Joins the other states in the south-south geo political zone to re-impose vote of confidence and continued support for the President, Dr. Goodluck E. Jonathan ahead of 2015.”

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed as “inconsequential and of no effect” the passage of vote of no confidence on the Chief of Staff to The President, Chief Mike Oghiadomhe by some aggrieved persons from Edo North Senatorial Zone.
PDP leadership in a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh urged Nigerians to disregard the said vote of no confidence even as it warned that it will no longer tolerate indiscriminate and wanton pronouncements by party members and organs against persons legitimately holding sensitive positions in the party and the PDP-led administration.
“The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) hereby declares as inconsequential and of no effect, the passage of vote of no confidence on the Chief of Staff to The President, Chief Mike Oghiadomhe by some aggrieved persons from Edo North Senatorial Zone.
“Also we have taken serious note of various sponsored malicious news stories and articles targeted at ridiculing the office and person of the Chief of Staff to The President and other leaders of our party.
“We wishes to state categorically that we are highly pleased with the contributions of Chief Mike Oghiadomhe to national development and the growth and stability of our party.
“Chief Mike Oghiadomhe is a very committed, loyal and dedicated leader of our party who has continued to selflessly and meritoriously serve at very high levels with outstanding performance records as a two-time deputy governor of Edo state, former Chief of Staff to the Vice President and currently the Chief of Staff the President of our great country.
“The NWC therefore seriously frowns at any attempt by any person or group of persons to in any way ridicule the person and office of the Chief of Staff to the President under any guise. In the same vein, the leadership of the party will no longer tolerate indiscriminate and wanton pronouncements by party members and organs against persons legitimately holding sensitive positions in the party and the PDP-led administration.
“All loyal and well-meaning members of the PDP who have any grievance should air such through the internal channels of communication provided in the party instead of engaging in misguided public pronouncements and mudslinging in the media”, the statement said.
