March 30, (THEWILL) – The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has urged Muslims across the country to uphold the values of discipline, sacrifice, and compassion imbibed during the holy month of Ramadan.
Delivering his Eid-el-Fitr message in Sokoto on Sunday, the revered monarch also called for sustained prayers for peace and stability across Nigeria.
He emphasised the importance of praying for the nation’s leaders, acknowledging the efforts of President Bola Tinubu and Sokoto State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu, in fulfilling their mandates.
“In Sokoto State and across Nigeria, we have witnessed significant transformation within just one and a half years of the present administration,” he noted.
“We remain confident that these progressive strides are only the beginning of more impactful governance,” the Sultan added.
Abubakar reaffirmed the commitment of traditional institutions to supporting government initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of Nigerians.
Commending security agencies for their dedication to safeguarding lives and property, he urged them to explore more proactive strategies in tackling the nation’s security challenges.
He also lauded Islamic scholars for their unwavering commitment throughout Ramadan, noting that their teachings played a vital role in promoting religious tolerance and national unity.
Sultan stated, “We have witnessed peace, social harmony, and a renewed commitment to supporting the vulnerable in our society.
“This reflects the dedication of our scholars, who, throughout Ramadan, encouraged acts of kindness and solidarity among Nigerians.”
He urged Muslims to sustain these virtues beyond the Ramadan period, stressing that continued support for one another would contribute to a brighter future for the Ummah.
