BEVERLY HILLS, November 18, (THEWILL) – Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has called on the people of Kogi State to embrace change by voting for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Nov. 21 governorship election.
Osinbajo made the call on Wednesday in Lokoja at a rally organised by the party to persuade members and supporters to vote for the APC on Saturday.
He said that it is only APC that have good programmes and quality people to effect the necessary change in the country.
He urged the people to join their counterparts in the North-Central zone by voting for the party’s candidate, Alhaji Abubakar Audu, saying they could not continue to live in isolation.
The Vice President reiterated the resolve of the ruling party to fulfill its electioneering campaign promises to Nigerians and urged the people to turn out massively to cast their votes for the APC.
The National Leader of the party, Sen. Bola Tinubu, promised that the APC would provide employment opportunities and empower women and youths.
He called on the electorate in Kogi to be vigilant and monitor their votes from the polling units to collation centres.
He promised that agents of the party at the various polling units would be the first to be absorbed under 5,000 job creation scheme of the party in the state.
Tinubu urged the people to troop out enmasse to vote for Audu, saying the candidate had what it takes to create wealth and jobs for them.
The National Chairman of the party, Chief John-Odigie Oyegun, and a chieftain of the party, Chief Bisi Akande, urged Kogi people not to be left behind in the national scheme of things by voting for the APC.
Some governors of the party who graced the rally included Adams Oshiomhole of Edo, Samuel Lalong of Plateau and Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State.
In his remarks, Audu lamented that development in the state had been stalled during 12 years of PDP administration and promised to reverse the trend and bring about positive change.
He promised to clear salary arrears of workers, saying he would not retrench workers as being speculated.
Highlight of the event was the defection of 15 out of the 21 serving local government chairmen in the state from the PDP to APC.
Some special advisers and senior special assistants to Gov. Idris Wada also defected to the APC.
Ministers, national woman leader of the APC, Dr. Rhamatu Tijani, Vice Chairman of the party, Chief Segun Oni and some members of the National Assembly, including Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso and Sen.Dino Melaiye also attended the rally.
