December 11, (THEWILL) – Amid the ongoing emirate crisis, the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, has assured the people of Bichi in Bichi Local Government Area that the Emirate Council will ensure the peaceful conveyance of their District Head to them.
Sanusi made the pledge when a delegation of traditional and religious leaders, led by the Chairman of Bichi Local Government, Alhaji Hamza Sule, paid him a visit of homage and solidarity at his Gidan Rumfa palace in Kano on Wednesday.
“I assure you that another date will be fixed, and your District Head, Munir Sanusi Bayero, will surely be brought to you for his new role,” the Emir said.
This assurance comes less than a week after security personnel barricaded the entrance of the Emir’s palace, allegedly preventing the District Head from being taken to Bichi to assume duty.
Palace sources revealed that the visit was scheduled for that day, but was thwarted due to the heavy security presence at the palace.
He noted, “That incident was merely a distraction, and we are still unaware of the reasons behind it, as those involved have not provided any explanations.”
“However, this will not deter us. I assure you that another day will be set for the transfer, and everything will proceed peacefully.”
Sanusi urged the people to remain peaceful and prayerful, stressing that these qualities would guide them through this difficult period and lead them to a resolution.
Earlier, Sule explained that the people of Bichi district were fully supportive of the Emirship of Muhammadu Sanusi II.
Sule stated, “Even on the controversial day set for your visit to Bichi to escort the new District Head, Munir Sanusi Bayero, we were fully prepared to receive you. However, we only learned of the crisis when we were already celebrating your arrival.
“We in Bichi, from our Imams, Village Heads, Wards Heads, and the entire community, are behind your Royalty, and our solidarity is unwavering. That is why we chose to come today in large numbers to emphasize our loyalty to you and to the decisions you have made for your domain, Bichi.”
