June 09, (THEWILL) — The Nigerian equities market sustained its positive momentum on Tuesday as gains in large-cap stocks, particularly Airtel Africa, lifted key market indicators despite a mixed breadth performance.

Market capitalisation advanced by ₦835 billion to close at ₦156.943 trillion from ₦156.108 trillion recorded at the previous session’s close. Similarly, the All-Share Index (ASI) gained 1,301.37 points to settle at 244,697.62, compared with 243,396.25 recorded on Monday.

Market sentiment remained broadly positive as 33 stocks appreciated against 32 decliners.

Top Gainers

AIRTELAFRI gained 10.00 percent (to close at ₦4,021.20 from ₦3,655.70).

INTENEGINS appreciated by 9.90 percent (to close at ₦8.77 from ₦7.98).

ABBEYBDS rose by 9.76 percent (to close at ₦11.25 from ₦10.25).

INFINITY advanced by 9.63 percent (to close at ₦10.25 from ₦9.35).

FIRSTHOLDCO increased by 8.49 percent (to close at ₦69.00 from ₦63.60).

Top Decliners

LEARNAFRCA shed 10.00 percent (to close at ₦9.45 from ₦10.50).

NAHCO declined by 10.00 percent (to close at ₦170.55 from ₦189.50).

OKOMUOIL fell by 10.00 percent (to close at ₦1,575.00 from ₦1,750.00).

TRANSEXPR dropped by 10.00 percent (to close at ₦4.41 from ₦4.90).

UNILEVER depreciated by 10.00 percent (to close at ₦140.40 from ₦156.00).

Meanwhile, Lafarge Africa Plc, Presco Plc, Custodian Investment Plc, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, Golden Guinea Breweries Plc, Cadbury Nigeria Plc and Nestlé Nigeria Plc were among the stocks that closed flat during the session.

The market’s positive close reflected renewed investor interest in selected blue-chip and insurance stocks, with Airtel Africa’s strong performance providing significant support to the benchmark index.
