July 07, (THEWILL) – Former Minister of State for Education, during the president Goodluck Jonathan administration, Prof. Nicolas Akise Ada, has decried the fallen standard of education in the country, saying it is unacceptable.
He lamented that schools in the country lack adequate infrastructure, pointing out that many students receive lectures in halls that are too small for comfort.
Ada, who is a Professor of Science Education, at the Benue State University, Makurdi, noted that such a situation is also unhealthy to learning, explaining that the quality of tutoring and what the teacher does, determine the output of the entire system.
According to him, students cannot be good if the quality of teaching is bad; advising parents and stakeholders to meet and evaluate the sector.
He called for interaction for more monitoring of schools, to ensure effective service delivery in the education sector.
