December 29, (THEWILL) – At least three persons have been reported killed on Thursday, following an explosion that occurred in Okene, Okene local government area of Kogi State.
The incident occurred on Thursday morning, around the Oyinoyi of Ebira Land’s Palace in Okene town.
Eyewitness account said the blast was as a result of an overloaded electricity transformer that exploded, leaving the people around it dead and few others injured.
President Buhari is currently in Kogi State to Commission the Reference Hospital built by the administration of Governor Yahaya Bello and other projects in the state.
According to the artillery of the President, he was expected to hold a town hall meeting with stakeholders in Okene before coming to Lokoja to commission other projects.
However, all efforts to confirm the report from the Kogi State Police Command Public relationship officer, William Ayah, proved abortive, as he was not responding to calls.
