August 29, (THEWILL) – A gas explosion has occurred near the camp of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
Resident source told THEWILL that the incident occured at a gas plant close to the church
The source said the fire started around 10.30 am, adding that the plant exploded close to the camp and around the police station situated at the camp.
“We were indoors when we suddenly heard the explosion, and everybody ran out to know what was going on. As I speak to you, the location of the explosion is burning”, the source said.
Although,details on the incident remain sketchy, the Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Fire Service, confirmed the development to THEWILL.
“Yes it is true, there is an explosion at the RCCG camp. Our men have been mobilised to the scene.”
Also, Spokesperson for the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Nosa Okunbor, confirmed the incident.
“We are already on our way and the location of the explosion that we got was Redeemed Camp, Mowe Bus Stop”, Okunbor said.
