April 08, (THEWILL) – Criticism has trailed Nollywood actress, Toyin Abraham’s role in a newly premiered movie, ‘Gang of Lagos’.
The movie was produced by Jadesola Osiberu and premiered on Friday. It was shot last year.
After its release, a clip of Abraham’s role in the movie surfaced online. In the movie, the mother of one lamented about the 20 years struggle of Lagosians under the leadership of a particular party in the State.
The actress angrily called out the government for not fulfilling its responsibilities to its citizens and the state while they spend money to take their children abroad.
She also claimed that the government in power kept transferring public funds into their personal account and using the children of the masses as political thugs during elections. Whereas, their children are placed in positions of authority and influence.
Recall that Abraham had publicly declared her love and support for the All Progressives Congress in Lagos State during the recently concluded election.
She had several altercations with her fans for throwing her weight behind APC, the ruling party in Lagos State, which has been in power for over ten years.
The actress was criticised for taking a role that is clearly against her principle as a person. She was abused for having a double standard, criticizing a government in movies while in real life she is in support of what such government stands for.
Her fans are of the opinion that she should have maintained sealed lips during the election when she knew she had acted contrary to her principle I’m 2022.
They also accused her of doing things for monetary reward while labelling her as a hypocrite.
