BEVERLY HILLS, April 17, (THEWILL) – The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has banned farming activities on all the fringes of the popular Umar Musa Yar’Adua Expressway, leading to Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.

FCT Minister, Mallam Muhammad Bello, who issued the order on Friday, also outlawed street trading and illegal motor parks along the airport way.

Bello said that no resident or organisation would be allowed to carry out any illegal activity on a major gateway leading into the nation’s capital city.

He noted that while residents were encouraged to engage in legitimate economic activities that mitigate poverty and contribute to nation building, the administration would not allow such at any unauthorised places.

Bello blamed communities along the road fringes from the City Gate to Bill Clinton Drive for defacing the environment and not complying with extant regulations.

He ordered the Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB) to sensitise residents and farmers on the need not to plant any crops along the road axis, so as to mitigate their losses, as the agency would not spare their crops.
