FG Approves Transcorp Power As Preferred Bidder For Abuja DisCo

May 09, (THEWILL) – The Federal Government has approved Transcorp Power as the preferred bidder for the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC).

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo disclosed this on Tuesday, at the commissioning of the Afam 3-fast power plant in Oyigbo LGA, Rivers state.

“At the meeting of the National Council on Privatisation (NCP), the council approved Transcorp Power consortium as the preferred bidder of the acquisition of the Abuja Distribution Company”, he said.

Osinbajo had declared on Monday, that only private sector investment in the power sector would ensure steady supply, as well as meet the demand of energy needs of Nigerians.

He urged other players in the industry to tow the line of Transcorp Power Plc, saying, “We hope that this will not be the last in the series of private power companies that are taking over power plants that are unable to meet the expectations of the post-evaluation plans.”
