
June 25, (THEWILL) – Five persons have died in an auto crash that occurred on Saturday, along Kobape, on Sagamu Expressway corridor of Ogun State.
Three persons also sustained varying degrees of injuries from the accident.
The crash involved a Mazda car with registration number: KRD975HJ and a truck, with registration number:14214LA.
The Superintendent Route Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Florence Okpe, said that the crash occurred due to over speeding and dangerous way of driving by the truck driver.
She said that the driver of the truck made a sudden turn, while in motion and hit the Mazda bus, killing four persons on the spot.
Okpe explained that eight persons were involved in the auto crash (two males and six females), but four females and one male were recorded dead, while two females and one male sustained injuries.
The Route Commander said that the injured victims had been taken to Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta, for medical attention, while the five corpses had also been deposited at the mortuary of the same hospital.
The Sector Commander Ogun FRSC, Mr Ahmed Umar, urged motorists and truck drivers to stop speed violations and adhere to road safety guidelines.
Umar, therefore, commiserated with the family of the crash victims and advised to contact the state command of FRSC for more information about the crash.
