March 25, (THEWILL) — FMDQ Group Plc has reinforced its commitment to youth financial literacy by engaging secondary school students in a targeted outreach programme to mark the 2026 Global Money Week 2026.
The initiative, delivered through its flagship FMDQ-Next Generation Financial Markets Empowerment Programme, saw the Group host a “Teach-a-Class” session for students at Bethesda Secondary School in Lagos on March 18, introducing them to core financial concepts and responsible money management.
Global Money Week, coordinated by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development’s International Network on Financial Education, is an annual campaign to equip young people with essential financial skills. The 2026 edition was held from March 16 to 20.
During the session, students were exposed to practical lessons on savings, investments, and the role of financial markets in economic development, with the programme designed to build early awareness and promote informed financial decision-making.
Speaking on the initiative, FMDQ Group’s Chief Operating Officer, Tumi Sekoni, said financial literacy remains a critical life skill, adding that early engagement helps young people develop sustainable financial habits.
Launched in 2018, the FMDQ-Next programme has reached over 1,470 participants, spanning primary school pupils to recent graduates, through initiatives such as training sessions, internships, and market-focused engagements.
The outreach aligns with global development priorities, including quality education and poverty reduction, while supporting broader efforts to deepen financial inclusion and participation in Nigeria’s financial markets.
