January 10, (THEWILL) — The former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has returned to Nigeria after a multi-week vacation in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
A statement issued on Saturday, January 10, 2026, by Malam Muhammad Garba, Chief of Staff to the former APC National Chairman, confirmed that Ganduje arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos at approximately 4:30 p.m. aboard an Emirates Airline flight.
He is scheduled to proceed to Abuja later this evening.
Following his return, Ganduje is expected to commence a series of high-level consultations and stakeholders’ meetings focused on the evolving political landscape in Kano State.
These engagements aim to review recent developments and facilitate dialogue with party leaders and critical stakeholders.
Notably, his return coincides with reports suggesting a potential political realignment in Kano, including the rumored defection of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to the APC.
In addition to these political consultations, Dr. Ganduje is expected to participate in the ongoing APC nationwide electronic membership registration (e-registration) exercise.
This initiative, which he pioneered during his tenure as National Chairman, was designed to modernize the party’s membership database, enhance internal planning, and ensure that APC records are comprehensive and credible.
The former governor remains committed to strengthening party structures and promoting inclusive dialogue to support democratic consolidation within the APC, particularly in his home state of Kano.
