September 27, (THEWILL) – Goodmus Learning Centre, Nigeria and Tokat Innovation Schools,Turkey have presented a 4-pronged approach to quality, affordable secondary education in Africa.
Both institutes unveiled the plan at a mega international seminar held last weekend at Radisson Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos.
According to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of GLC, Ambassador Adekunle Badmus, this quality but affordable secondary education in Africa is featuring four major angles which include: Secondary Education; School Owners Programme, whereby they build 21 century schools for school owners programme;Â Summer School Programme which runs in three batches in August and Family Relocation.
“The Summer School Programme runs every August with three batches. Batch A runs from 1st August to 10th August; batch B runs from 11th August to 20th August while batch C runs from 21st August to 30th August”, Amb. Badmus explained.
Speaking further, Badmus advised that, with the disparity and free fall of Naira in the foreign exchange market, there is need for parents, wards and guardians to seek for quality and affordable education in order to utilise the hard earned forex properly.
Stating that Dollar was at the rate of N76 when he started his educational programme 16 years ago, Mr Badmus noted that despite the fall of the Naira to about N570 presently, GLC has been able to assist over 700 African students to study in Turkey.
Emphasising that Turkey has the best educational programmes, the CEO said “We at GLC have distinguished ourselves to be able to present this to the whole of Africa. That is what we have done to the university level, up to PhD levels with a total of about 700 students in Africa. Right now we are implementing quality and affordable secondary education in Turkey. This is a huge opportunity because it is like a 4 in 1 programme”.
Explaining how the programme is run, Badmus added that “the educational programme runs 3 times a year in April, August and December. The forthcoming one should be December 13th to 19th while the third one is a summer school programme whereby every August of every year, we have a summer school program and it is going to be on three batches.
In her presentation, Public Relations Manager of Tokat Innovation Schools, Hande Durmaz assured that the quality of education in Turkey is one of the best in the world.
Durmaz explained that, the Tokat Innovation Schools provides the most dimensional education for every single student, including knowledge not only in academics or Arts but everything combined.
She said that, at Tokat Innovation Schools, students are trained such that they will be able to improve their talents and discover themselves which they use in the future.
On vocational training, Durmaz said that “We have vocational high school, with three main branches including electrical, electronics and information technology. These three main branches are the basics because you have to use technology effectively in the 21 century. You will be getting an education that is combined with practical information with theoretical knowledge. We have technological labs where students experiment for themselves in real life. So you learn things that you will be using after you graduate”.
“We have a huge campus that has an auditorium, music classes, basketball field, volleyball field. It will not just be academics for students but everything combined together. Once you graduate from our high school, you will be a multidimensional person that will be standing out in the business world”.
On the cost of studying in Tokat Innovation Schools, the Public Relations Manager warned that education should not be sized with money, pointing out that, “education is not something you can size with money, because it is something that shapes your personality, future, makes who you want to be and makes you achieve your dreams. It is not something you can equate with money” .
She however, disclosed that Tokat Innovation Schools try as much as possible to make the cost of their programmes affordable for everyone to benefit from.
“It is about 9, 000 Dollars total including everything for 12 months. It includes transportation, educational books, uniforms, and educational services. We also provide weekend activities whereby we take you to different places in Turkey. So, it is not just going to be academic alone but it will also involve the student exploring the country and their culture and the student will be integrated with a lot of students from different backgrounds. It will be a unique experience”.
She equally assured the safety and wellbeing of all their foreign and local students at all times.
According to her, the school management monitors students once they come into the school.
“We make sure the students are safe. Usually Turkey is a safe country and the crime rate is very low. With this, we monitor everything happening in the city”, she said.
The mega international seminar which held at Radisson Hotel, Ikeja in Lagos had students, parents, school owners, educational consultants, teachers and other stakeholders in full attendance including CEO, Innovation Schools, Tokat, Turkey, Izzet Sansur; General Manager, Burak Ocakh and the Public Relations Manager, Hande Durmaz who graced the event from Turkey.
