
March 28, (THEWILL) – A section of a five-storey building at Balogun Market, Lagos Island, was completely destroyed by fire in the early hours of Tuesday, burning items worth millions of naira.
The cause of the inferno cannot be ascertained as of the time of filing this report, but no human casualty has been recorded.
THEWILL reports on February 2, 2023, that a building at the market was gutted by fire. Earlier, a storey building was destroyed in the market in late January.
The Director of the Lagos Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, confirmed the latest incident in a short statement.
She said the situation had been brought under control as of 10.30 am.
“The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service is currently attending to a Fire outbreak at the famous Balogun Market which involved the topmost floor of a five-storey building.
“The Fire is, however, under control as mitigation is on to limit its spread”, Adeseye said.
