December 20, (THEWILL) – Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has commended the Federal Emergency Roads Maintenance Agency for its impressive strides in maintaining federal roads across the country.
Idris made this remark while hosting the Minister of State for Works, Bello Goronyo, at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi.
The Minister was in the state to commission a rehabilitated bridge at Alwasa village in Argungu Local Government Area, following earlier visits to Sokoto and Zamfara for similar project inaugurations by FERMA.
The governor lauded FERMA for its visible impact, saying, “In many parts of Nigeria, FERMA is actively delivering on its mandate. I am truly impressed with the agency’s work. No Federal Government agency matches FERMA’s impact. I applaud President Tinubu for providing the necessary support to ensure its optimal performance.”
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to partnering with the Federal Government on initiatives that benefit Kebbi State residents.
Idris also praised the Federal Government for revoking the contract for the reconstruction of the Koko-Mahuta-Dabai road due to the contractor’s inefficiency, revealing that the state had been granted approval to take over the project and ensure its proper execution.
At the commissioning of the rehabilitated bridge in Alwasa, Minister Goronyo emphasized its potential to bolster economic activities and improve security in the area.
“Trade and commerce will thrive, and insecurity will decline with improved road infrastructure. I urge residents to protect this project by ensuring heavy-duty vehicles comply with transport regulations,” the Minister said.
Kebbi State Commissioner for Works, Engr. Abdullahi Muslim, also praised FERMA and the Federal Ministry of Works for their contributions to the state’s development.
The Minister was accompanied by FERMA’s Managing Director, Engr. Okechukwu Agbasi, and other top officials during the visit.
