
March 20, (THEWILL) – Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has approved key appointments and promotions across various government agencies, naming Architect Hauwa Hassan Tudun Wada as the new Managing Director of the Kano Urban Planning and Development Authority.
The announcement was made in a statement issued on Thursday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
Before her appointment, Tudun Wada served as a professional architect at the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA).
She holds ND, HND, BSc, and MSc degrees in Architecture from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and is one of the first female architects from Kano to excel in the field. She is also a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Architects and the Vice Chairperson of Female Architects in Nigeria.
Dawakin Tofa also announced the appointment of Mustapha Muhammad as Chief Press Secretary and Deputy Official Spokesperson to the governor.
A veteran journalist with over two decades of experience, Muhammad previously worked as a Senior Broadcaster at the BBC.
He holds BSc and MSc degrees in Mass Communication and is currently pursuing a PhD in the same field.
“In his new role, he will work under the Director General, Media and Publicity, to enhance media engagement and communication strategies for the administration,” the statement read.
Additionally, the governor appointed Auwal Lawan Aramposu as Deputy Managing Director of the Kano Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA). Aramposu, who previously served as the Chairman of Nasarawa Local Government, was also a Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on ICT to a former Kano governor.
In the agriculture sector, Dr. Tukur Minjibir has been appointed as Special Adviser on Agriculture. Minjibir, a former Managing Director of Kano Agricultural Supply Company (KASCO) and a Senior Lecturer at Ahmadu Bello University, holds a PhD in Agricultural Engineering, specializing in agricultural mechanization.
Yusuf also approved the promotion of Zulaihat Yusuf Aji to Deputy Managing Director of Radio Kano. Aji, who previously served as Senior Special Assistant on Broadcast at the Government House, built a media career spanning over a decade at Freedom Radio, Kano.
Furthermore, Engineer Abduljabbar Nanono has been promoted to Deputy Managing Director of KHEDCO. Nanono, who holds a Master’s Degree in Renewable Energy, was previously a Senior Special Assistant on Renewable Energy.
The statement emphasized that all appointments and promotions take immediate effect, reflecting Governor Yusuf’s commitment to an efficient, inclusive, and results-driven administration.
“While congratulating the new appointees, the governor assured them of his full support and urged them to work diligently in their respective roles to contribute meaningfully to the development of Kano State,” Dawakin Tofa added.
