Gov Yusuf Empowers 5,200 Women With N50,000 To Boost Self-Reliance

October 28, (THEWILL) — Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has launched another batch of empowerment initiatives, providing N50,000 support each to 5,200 women drawn from the 44 local government areas of the state.

The initiative is a bold move to promote economic inclusion and uplift families across the state.

The programme, which was flagged off at the Government House, Kano, underscores the governor’s commitment to reducing poverty, strengthening small-scale enterprises, and promoting self-reliance among vulnerable women.

While unveiling the initiative, the Governor said empowering women is central to his administration’s development vision, noting that the beneficiaries were carefully selected to ensure equitable representation and maximum community impact.

“This support is designed to help women expand small businesses, stabilise their households, and contribute meaningfully to our state’s economy,” he said.

He emphasised that women are key drivers of social and economic progress, and that his government would continue to implement policies that enhance their productivity and independence.

The Chairperson of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Kano State chapter, Hajiya Saadatu Yusha’u, in her remarks, hailed the initiative as a “landmark in grassroots empowerment”, commending the governor for prioritising women’s welfare and economic growth.

Yusha’u urged the beneficiaries to utilise the money wisely to transform their livelihoods and support his administration’s vision for sustainable community development.

The ceremony featured the symbolic presentation of the empowerment funds to selected women from different local governments, marking the official commencement of the monthly disbursement across the state.
