January 29, (THEWILL) — The Kano State Commissioner of Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Wayya, has dispelled rumors that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf is losing grip of his government following his recent defection to the All Progressives Congress.
In a statement issued on Thursday, January 29, 2026, Wayya described reports suggesting a loss of authority as mischievous and designed to mislead the public.
Wayya stated that governance is not determined by propaganda and emphasized that the commissioners in charge of strategic ministries remain firmly aligned with the governor.
These ministries include policy, finance, infrastructure, local government, and information management.
He argued that anyone suggesting a lack of control is intentionally uninformed.
The commissioner listed several key ministries that continue to operate under the governors command, including Education, Health, Works, Finance, Justice, and Agriculture.
He noted that as long as these core institutions remain stable, the engine room of government continues to function effectively.
Wayya reminded critics that political movements do not disrupt the actual structures of governance.
According to Wayya, the administration remains focused on implementing projects and maintaining a functional cabinet.
He stated that those celebrating a perceived decline in authority are mistaking political drama for a loss of power. He added that the administration would not be distracted or compelled to negotiate its mandate, as the governor continues to lead strategically.
The statement concludes by asserting that the governor is governing effectively and that detractors should accept the reality of his continued control over the state’s pillars of governance.
This clarification comes just days after the governor formally registered as an APC member, a move that has triggered significant shifts in the political landscape of Kano State.
