November 25, (THEWILL) – Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has commenced the distribution of 100 trucks of food items donated to the state by President Bola Tinubu.
The distribution exercise, which began on Monday, took place in Ngala Local Government Area, targeting residents of Gamboru, Ngala, and other flood-affected communities.
The donated grains—comprising maize, sorghum, and millet—were distributed to households, with priority given to the most vulnerable residents.
Explaining the rationale behind selecting Ngala for the flag-off, Zulum said the town had been completely cut off from the rest of the country for four months due to heavy rainfall and flooding, which disrupted the movement of food supplies.
“This morning, we flagged off the distribution of 100 trucks of assorted grains to communities in Ngala Local Government. This town was completely isolated for about four months due to flooding, which hindered the movement of essential supplies. Our visit today is to provide relief and cushion the hardships faced by the people,” Zulum stated.
The governor expressed gratitude to Tinubu and federal agencies for their unwavering support.
He disclosed that the federal government had also provided 100 trucks of rice for victims of the recent flood disaster in Maiduguri.
“All the food items distributed today were donated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The President has generously provided us with 100 trucks of assorted grains, and the federal government has also supplied 100 trucks of rice for Maiduguri flood victims,” he noted.
He added, “I commend the federal government, under President Tinubu’s leadership, for supporting our people in their time of need.”
While lauding the relief efforts, Zulum highlighted his administration’s gradual shift from food aid to sustainable development initiatives.
He emphasised the state’s focus on boosting agricultural productivity through irrigation projects in resettled communities.
