Gunmen

July 28, (THEWILL) – Gunmen, on Wednesday night, attacked the Craneburg Construction Company in Owo, Owo Local Government Area, Ondo State.

The assailants were said to have arrived at about 9pm while it was raining and most of the workers were indoors.

Though, details on the incident are sketchy, some residents suspect a kidnap attack.

The Chief Security Officer of the company, Tubsun Aladeselu, confirmed to Channels Television that two of the workers, who sustained gunshots injuries during the attack are being treated at a nearby hospital.

He said the attackers, two in number, came in a bus and started shooting sporadically. They also used an explosive device, he added.

Spokesperson of the State Police Command, SP Fumilayo Odunlami, who confirmed the incident, said three persons were injured, adding that investigations were already on and urged residents not to panic.

“Tonight, there was a shooting incident at CRANEBURG CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, Owo, Policemen are currently at the scene, victims have been taken to the Hospital and they are in stable condition.”

In May, gunmen, suspected to be kidnappers, killed a soldier and kidnapped a Lebanese engineer at Ogbonmo, Ijebu-Owo.

On June 5, armed men attacked the St Francis Catholic Church in Owo and killed over 40 persons, while over 69 were injured.
