August 13, (THEWILL) – Several persons have been reported killed, after gunmen attacked traders at Ayayati market in Ukum Local Government area of Benue State on Friday.
The incident, which happened around 6 pm also left scores of persons injured.
Among the victims was Mrs Sarah Unongo, who hailed from Tombo, Logo local government. Others killed include Mr Kosho and two other persons.
In a related development, at least 13 persons have been reported killed and several others injured, after bandits attacked Karekuka village, in Gassol Local Government Area of Taraba state.
A source, who confirmed the incident said six local vigilante members were also killed during the attack on Friday.
The source disclosed that the vigilantes also killed six of the bandits.
Acting spokesperson of the Taraba Police Command, DSP Kwache Gambo, who confirmed the incident, said efforts are in top gear to restore normalcy.
He said officers have been drafted to the scene to convey the corpses to a nearby morgue as investigations commence.
