May 19, (THEWILL) – The Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) Plc, the leading ground handling company in West and Central African regions, has recorded 88 percent On-Time Performance (OTP) in the handling of its airline customers at the ongoing hajj operations at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) standard for OTP is 85 percent, but with the handling of the airline thus far, SAHCO has surpassed this with an additional 3 percent.
The breakdown of the statistics showed that so far, the handling company has handled eight flights out of Lagos. Out of the the eight carriers, seven of the flights were on-time, while one was delayed.
SAHCO handles Saudi Arabia’s flag carrier, Cliqjets, from Lagos for the exercise.
Commenting on the company’s feat, Shadrach Kambai, Station Manager, Fly Nas, expressed delight with the performance of SAHCO, attributing the achievement to team work, which he said is a culture in the company.
According to him, as a company, SAHCO has always shared successes and challenges and maintained no single unit, department or individual could take full credit for what had been achieved in the exercise so far.
“As we take a moment to reflect on our progress so far, I want to say, well done. The success we’ve recorded, especially seeing our On-Time Performance (OTP) exceed the IATA standard, is no accident.
“It’s a clear testament to your hard work, discipline, and collaboration. This achievement didn’t come from individual brilliance alone; it came from teams stepping up, silos being broken down, and people putting mission before ego.”
As the company approached the last flight of the exercise, Kambai appealed to the entire team to sustain the energy, discipline, and humility it had shown so far.
Calling for continued collaboration, communication and coordination, he added, “This is not the time to slow down. It’s time to finish strong, together. Let’s keep our eyes on the goal. Let’s lift one another. Let’s cross the finish line with excellence and unity”, he advised.
