
December 11, (THEWILL) – Sokoto State HISBAH Board, an Islamic police outfit, has intercepted and confiscated over two hundred cartons of liquid substances suspected to be alcoholic drinks at the Sokoto Central Motor Park.
HISBAH Commander, Usman Jatau, while addressing journalists in Sokoto on Wednesday, said the seizure was sequel to safeguarding some rules and regulations expected residents to abide by within the state.
He said nobody has come out to claim the confiscated, suspected alcoholic drinks, and the HISBAH would consult the state commissioner for Justice and attorney general to know the next line of action.
The HISBAH commander said the rules and regulations are not targeting anybody with the intention of witch hunts, causing chaos, and or disrupting the peaceful nature of the state, but rather will serve as guiding principles in the day-to-day activities of the people in the state.
“To fear Allah (SWT) in all our dealings Avoiding all prohibited activities: such as mingling and blending between males and females.
According to him, the rules are also expected to monitor “Dress code,” and social business interaction and relationships, which must be in line with the procedure permitted by Islamic law.
He said, “Taking any advantage at any place or a hideout for practising any immoral act is prohibited; Assaulting and cheating any Muslim fellow directly or indirectly, must not be practised and shunned away by all Muslims, among others
“All ceremonies, celebrations, and anniversaries are carried out in accordance with the teaching of Shariah.
“Taking advantage and selling out any substance and illicit drugs at any public gathering, ceremonies, or at any event is also forbidden”, he further explained.
