BEVERLY HILLS, February 18, (THEWILL) – Charles Polevich has been arrested for the hit-and-run crash that led to the death of Nicki Minaj’s dad, Robert Maraj.
According to security operatives, the 70-year-old Polevich hid his car under a tarp after asking the dying victim, Nicki Minaj’s father, if he was alright.
Polevich gave himself up to police on Wednesday and he was charged with leaving the accident scene and tampering with evidence.
THEWILL had earlier reported that Maraj was walking in the roadway on Roslyn Road near his Mineola home when Polevich allegedly hit him near Raff Ave. about 6:15 p.m. February 12.
According to court papers, Polevich got out of his white 1992 Volvo, stood over Mara and asked him if “he was okay” before he jumped back into his vehicle and drove off abandoning the hip-hop star’s father dying in the street.
When Polevich arrived home which was not far from the crash scene, he hid his car in his garage and covered the vehicle.
Maraj was hospitalized and subsequently died later that day.
