
September 29, (THEWILL) – Hoodlums, on Tuesday, attacked police officers at a checkpoint along Obasanjo-Itele road in Ado-Odo/Ota local government area of Ogun state.
Security sources told THEWILL that the Police team, led by one ASP Nasiru Azeez, were attacked at about 3.11 am, while on official duty.
Others on duty alongside Azeez were Inspector Olabisi Lawrence and Inspector Atari Friday.
The hoodlums injured Inspector Friday on the head while his AK-47 rifle was carted away.
THEWILL learnt that the rifle with Breach No. 804611, was “carted away with 30 rounds of live ammunition.
While the injured police officer was taken to the State Hospital, Ota for treatment, sources said the police are making efforts to recover the lost rifle.
When contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, neither denied nor confirmed the incident.
