October 18, (THEWILL) — The Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Prof. Abdullahi Saleh Usman, has said he conducts the affairs of the commission without political bias or discrimination based on Islamic sects.
Prof. Usman stated that his leadership approach reflects the impartial mandate given to him by President Bola Tinubu, which emphasizes fairness, unity, and inclusivity in serving all Nigerian Muslims.
“We regard this commission as an office for all Nigerian Muslims, regardless of their political leanings or sectarian affiliations. This aligns with the directive of President Bola Tinubu, who mandated us to run NAHCON without bias,” he said.
The NAHCON chairman made the remark on Saturday in Kano when he was honoured by the Tudun Murtala Development Foundation, chaired by a PDP stalwart, Alhaji Yahya Bagobiri.
The foundation recognized Prof. Usman for successfully organizing the 2025 Hajj, described as the most efficient and well-coordinated pilgrimage in Nigeria’s recent history.
The event, held at the Royal Prime Hall in Kano, brought together members of the APC, NNPP, and PDP, as well as adherents of the three major Islamic sects in Nigeria, Izala, Tijjaniyya, and Qadiriyya.
“Today’s gathering demonstrates President Tinubu’s mission of fostering unity among Nigerians without preference for political or religious divides. The president remains committed to sustaining this spirit of inclusiveness,” Prof. Usman added.
In his remarks, the member representing Nassarawa Federal Constituency, Hassan Shehu Hussain of the NNPP, commended Prof. Usman for his fairness and commitment to Islamic values in managing NAHCON’s affairs.
Hussain also lauded the NNPP-led Kano State Government for its infrastructural projects, assuring that communities such as Tudun Murtala and Rimin Kebbe would continue to benefit from ongoing development interventions.
Similarly, a member of the Kano State House of Assembly, Engr. M.D. Aliyu, appreciated the foundation for honouring the NAHCON chairman and reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration to delivering more dividends of democracy to the people of the state.
