September 06, (THEWILL) – Afrobeat singer, Femi Kuti, says he thought he would die very young.
The musician, while reflecting on his childhood and life at 60, in a recent interview, said he is quite shocked that he is still alive.
He said while growing up, he had a friend who was fond of telling him that he would die soon because of his recklessness.
He relished life at 60, saying it is an age to share good moments with family and friends.
“Me I thought I would would die very young o. (As a teenager) I had a friend who would look at me and say ‘this man will die’. At the time, I had a bike, so he will be looking at me like ‘this one, you’ll soon die’ because I was so reckless as a teenager.
“So, to have clocked 60, I’m quite shocked that I’m here. But it’s gracious… it’s an age where you just reflect on so many things in your life and you know, every moment is now precious with friends, family, and your children. It’s an unbelievable age. I thought 50 was good, 60 is greater”, he said.
