May 03, (THEWILL) – Nigeria’s President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Wednesday, claimed he won the 2023 presidential election “fair and square”.
Tinubu made the claim during inauguration of some projects in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, where he commissioned Rumuola-Rumuokwuta flyover and magistrate court building respectively.
Tinubu is in the state at the instance of Governor Nyesom Wike. His private jet touched down at the Port Harcourt International Airport at about 10.30 am, where he was received on arrival by Governor Wike, members of the National and State Assembly, the newly elected Lawmakers and other prominent Rivers sons and daughters.
While reading his goodwill message, at the commissioning of the Rumuola-Rumuokwuta flyover, described Wike as a “man of integrity”, adding that Wike stood his ground and said presidency must come to the South.
Tinubu thanked the Rivers Governor for his contribution during the election, saying that he wouldn’t have won without people like him.
He said, “If you talk of character, you can vouch for Governor Nyesom Wike. Wike, you are very dependable. I’m a very happy man because I worked hard and won with the support of people like Wike.
“I won the election fair and square. I say thank you for your support to my victory.
“In Nyesom Wike, I see a man of principle; he took a stand that presidency must come to the South and stood his ground.”
Wike had in a state broadcast on Tuesday, declared Wednesday, as a holiday, appealing Rivers residents to come out en masse to welcome Tinubu, who he supported during the February 25 Presidential poll.
