July 23, (THEWILL) – The Cour D’Appel De Cotonou in Benin Republic has adjourned till Monday hearing on the case of alleged immigration offences against the Yoruba secessionist agitator, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho.
Igboho’s Beninese lawyer, Rafael Huvehnou, confirmed on Friday that his client would remain in police custody, pending hearing on Monday.
Also, the umbrella body of Yoruba Self-Determination Groups, Ilana Omo Oodua, led by Professor Banji Akintoye, in a statement signed by its Communications Manager, Maxwell Adeleye, said the hearing had been adjourned till next Monday.
THEWILL reports that Igboho and his wife were arrested at Cardinal Bernardin International Airport, Cotonou, while on their way to Germany on Monday night.
They were brought before the Cour D’Appel De Cotonou on Thursday.
While the court ordered Igboho’s remand in prison custody for alleged Immigration offences, his wife (a German) was however released.
