Ikorodu Indigenes Ignore Funke Akindele, Drum Support For Sanwo-Olu

AKINDELE

Traditional rulers and elders in Ikorodu, one of the largest cities in Lagos State and the hometown of Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele, the deputy governor candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP are not in support of her political ambition. The actress is contesting on a joint ticket with Jide Adeniran, also known as Jandor to take over the helm of affairs of Lagos State on the platform of the PDP.

Traditional rulers and leaders in the hometown of the award-winning actress have instead pitched their support for the second-term bid of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the All Progressives Congress, APC. They made their decision known during an investiture ceremony of Governor Sanwo-Olu as the Grand Patron of Oriwu Club in Ikorodu last weekend.

The group was led by Ayangburen of Ikorodu, His Royal Highness, Oba Kabiru Sotobi, Senator Tokunbo Abiru, Honorable Ola Animashaun and Otunba Kunle Oduborisha who are all from Ikorodu community. According to the group, they are satisfied with the performance of Governor Sanwo-Olu in the last three and half years of his first term in office and therefore they will work tirelessly to ensure that he is re-elected in 2023. The group is planning to deliver 205,000 votes out of the targeted four million votes for their preferred candidate.
