April 25, (THEWILL) – The governorship reelection bid by Hope Uzodimma, received a boost on Tuesday, as three serving members of the House of Representatives from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), in Imo State, defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The lawmakers including Bede Eke, representing the Aboh Mbaise/Ngor Okpala Federal Constituency (PDP), Emeka Nwawuba, representing the Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Federal Constituency (APGA), and Ikenna Elezieanya, representing the Owerri Municipal/Owerri North/Owerri West Federal Constituencies (PDP), announced their defection on Tuesday, took in Owerri, Imo State capital.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has scheduled November 11, 2023, for off peak gubernatorial election in Imo, Bayelsa and Kogi States.
At the official declaration, held at Ndubuisi Kanu Square in Owerri, the defectors, promised to back the governor’s administration, as he seeks a second term in office.
They said their decision followed Governor Hope Uzodimma’s leadership qualities and achievements over the last three and a half years in the State
In his welcome address, the APC state chairman, Macdonald Ebere, said their decision to join the ruling party was “the best”.
