Governor Abba Yusuf

October 01, (THEWILL) — Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has condemned what he described as the unethical and partisan conduct of the state Commissioner of Police, calling on President Bola Tinubu to remove him from office.

Speaking on Tuesday at the parade marking Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary held at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano, the governor expressed displeasure over the commissioner’s decision to withdraw from the ceremony.

“As you can see, on this historic Independence Day, he decided to pull out of the parade along with his personnel. This action, for reasons best known to him, is unacceptable,” Yusuf said.

He added, “As the Chief Security Officer of Kano State, on behalf of the government and the people, I must say we are not happy with this attitude of the Commissioner of Police.”

The governor insisted that Kano remains peaceful and that its people are law-abiding, stressing that the police must not engage in partisan politics.

“Security agencies in Kano, in particular, should not involve themselves in partisan politics, which will do no good to the state or the country at large,” Yusuf warned.

He urged all security agencies to remain committed to their constitutional responsibilities of protecting lives and property while maintaining law and order across the state.
