March 30, (THEWILL) – Taraba State Governor, Darius Dickson Ishaku, has applauded the people of the State for the overwhelming support given to him and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the March 18 elections in the State and the country entirely.

Ishaku, who stated this in Jalingo while interacting with journalists, said despite the disappointment he encountered at the polls, he is still grateful to Tarabans for coming out to vote for a new governor.

“I especially want to thank Tarabans for believing in us and coming out in mass to vote for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). We sincerely appreciate the overwhelming support we have received and are still receiving from our people.

“Despite the disappointment I encountered, I still want to thank my people for still honouring me by coming to vote for our party when I enjoined them to,” he said.

The Governor called on the Governor-elect, Lt. Col. Agbu Kefas (rtd), to prioritize human and stomach infrastructure so that the state will not just thrive while the people are hungry.

“I want to tell the Governor-elect to focus more on stomach infrastructure because it is very important, as the state can only thrive when the people are satisfied.

“The PDP administration has also done its best in the areas of physical infrastructure, education, water and other sectors and I believe that the incoming Governor will do more given that he is still young and vibrant,” he said.

In his response, the Governor-elect expressed gratitude to Gov Ishaku and the good people of Taraba State for delivering the mandate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and assured that he will not forget the promises made during campaigns.

“The Governor has laid the foundation. When we step in, we will look at where they stopped and take off. We will focus on security, unity, education, and agriculture. We will also look at the stomach infrastructure so that our people will not go hungry while we are busy with physical infrastructure,” he said.

The Governor-elect called on Tarabans and other aspirants, who contested with him, to add their shoulders to the wheel as the victory is a collective one for everyone in Taraba.
