SAN FRANCISCO, September 30, (THEWILL) – President Goodluck Jonathan will make an Independence Day Broadcast to the nation at 07:00 Hours tomorrow, Tuesday, October 1, 2013, a Presidency statement by Reuben Abati, the President’s spokesman said Monday.
The statement advised “All television and radio stations in the country are enjoined to hook up to the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) to relay the broadcast to their viewers and listeners.”
United States Salutes Nigeria
A statement signed by the United States Secretary of State, Senator John Kerry, hailed and congratulated Nigerians on its 53rd Independence Day.
The statement reads: “On behalf of President Obama and the people of the United States, I congratulate the people of Nigeria as you celebrate your Independence Day on October 1.
A warm friendship connects the Nigerian and American people, reflecting our shared values of democracy, economic growth, security, and respect for human rights and the rule of law. Our partnership is strong because of our people. As the proverb tells us, “If you want to go quickly, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”
In the coming years, the United States looks forward to going further with Nigeria as we expand education, jobs and opportunity for our people.
On the 53rd anniversary of your independence, I wish all Nigerians a safe and prosperous future.”
