April 19, (THEWILL) – The APC Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) Support Organization in Kano State has rejected the potential defection of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying his return could jeopardize the party’s stability.
The organization made its position known during a press conference at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre in Kano on Saturday.
Speaking through its Chairman, Comrade Aminu Mu’azu Fagge, the group stated, “The APC Persons With Disabilities Support Organization, Kano State, representing the collective interests of our members, unequivocally and categorically rejects Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso’s potential return to the APC. This decision is guided by our commitment to uphold the party’s stability, prosperity, and unity.”
They accused Kwankwaso of prioritizing personal interests over party unity, warning that his return could treat the APC “like his personal company, similar to his past associations.”
While noting that the group welcomes individuals who genuinely seek to contribute to the APC’s growth, it stressed that there would be “zero tolerance for discord,” emphasizing that the APC “is not one person’s property but a party for all good citizens of Nigeria.”
The organisation also reaffirmed its loyalty to the APC leadership under Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje and Hon. Abdullahi Abbas Sanusi, describing them as leaders who embody the party’s values and principles.
Commending the APC’s inclusive approach to governance, the group expressed appreciation for the welfare initiatives targeted at Persons With Disabilities under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The rejection comes amid rising speculations about Kwankwaso’s possible return to the APC after he defected from the party several years ago.
Earlier, the APC Chairman in Kano State, Prince Abdullahi Abbas, had expressed openness to Kwankwaso’s return, describing it as a welcome development.
“Recently, the party’s attention was drawn to speculations about the impending decamping of the leader of the expelled NNPP faction, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, to the APC. This is a welcome development, especially considering that the APC remains his last political refuge after severing ties with other political groups in the country,” Abbas said.
However, the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) Chairman in Kano State, Hashimu Dungurawa, dismissed the rumours, insisting that Kwankwaso had no intention of defecting to the APC.
“We have no business with the APC and no intention to defect,” Dungurawa said, describing the speculations as mere mischief.
