April 19, (THEWILL) – Residents of Kano and its environs are unaware of the Citizens Delivery Tracker, an App recently launched to enable Nigerians to track the development strides of the Federal Government.
The tracking App, as designed, will enable Nigerians to view the priority projects and programmes of the Federal Government on their various personal devices.
An investigation by THEWILL in parts of the state, however, revealed that the residents don’t know about the existence of the tracker.
One of them, Mohammed Salmanu, a retired civil servant, said he was hearing about the App for the first time.
“I don’t know anything about the tracker. I am just hearing about it from you. They should give it wide publicity to make Nigerians aware of its launch and how to use it, otherwise its existence and usage will be restricted to Abuja people,” Salmanu said.
Another citizen, Aminu Sabi’u, also voiced ignorance about the App but described it as a good initiative that would help Nigerians to know about the projects and programmes the central government is implementing to improve their lives.
Sabi’u, a primary school Teacher, said: “Wallahi (I swear to God), I have not heard anything about the tracker but if they had launched it as you are just telling me now, then it would be a good development because it will assist us in accessing information about the Federal Government’s development efforts.”
Similarly, Abubakar Zakari, a secondary school student from Kano Municipal, said he was not aware of the introduction of the App.
“Please, educate me about the new App to enable me to use it to find information about the Federal Government’s Students’ Loans Programme which I want to access when I obtain admission into the University, God willing,” 18-year-old Zakari pleaded.
Suwaiba Sa’idu, a resident of Yargaya town in Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area of the state, also said she doesn’t know anything about the new App, not to mention using it to track the development strides of the Federal Government.
The 45-year-old bean cake seller even wanted to know if the tracker was yet another App for the government cash transfer programme which she could use to access money to expand her small-scale business.
She said: “I have not heard about this App you are talking about. Is it another App for us to access government cash assistance or what?”
Sammani Shitu, a 32-year-old Cobbler, also told our Correspondent that he was unaware of the tracking App. Shitu, who operates along Audu Bako Way, Kano, said he was hearing about the App for the first time from our Reporter and, therefore, asked for details.
“If you can tell me more about the App then I might try to use it to track the government’s policies and programmes you are talking about, but I will need to be guided by someone because I am not literate enough to do it,” the Cobbler added.
