May 01, (THEWILL) – The Kano State Government has reiterated its commitment to addressing the state’s housing deficit.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by Adamu Abdullahi, Director of Public Enlightenment at the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.
According to the statement, the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ibrahim Yakubu Adamu, made the remarks during his maiden meeting with management staff of the ministry.
He said the state government is confident in the ministry’s capacity to tackle the housing challenges confronting the state.
Arc. Adamu noted that within two months of its establishment, the ministry had identified key locations where housing development schemes are being executed by the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf. These include sites in Lambu (Tofa Local Government Area), Yargaya (Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area), as well as the ongoing completion of the Kwankwasiyya, Amana, and Bandirawo Cities mass housing projects.
He added that the ministry would work to initiate more housing schemes targeted at both urban and rural development across the state.
The commissioner urged the ministry’s management team to embrace the values of excellence and teamwork in order to achieve the administration’s development goals.
He also called on directors to renew their commitment to the state government’s drive for transformation.
“The new Ministry of Housing and Urban Development is determined to ensure that every Kano citizen has access to affordable, safe, and dignified housing,” Arc. Adamu stated.
