March 16, (THEWILL) – The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has added yet another feather to his cap, securing his fourth prestigious award in just one month.
Keyamo was honoured with the Minister of the Year 2024 award by the Board of Editors of Daily Independent at a high-profile ceremony held over the weekend at Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The event brought together top industry leaders, government officials, and distinguished personalities from various sectors, reinforcing the minister’s growing recognition for his contributions to the aviation industry.
Although absent due to official engagements, Keyamo was well represented by key figures from his ministry, including the Director General of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMET),
Professor Charles Anosike; the Director General of the National Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), Captain Alex Badeh Jr.; and the Managing Director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Dr. Ahmed Umar Farouk, represented by Mr. John Tayo, Director of Air Traffic Services.
Significantly, the night also saw another major recognition within the aviation sector, as Professor Anosike was named Aviation Sector CEO of the Year.
The dual honours underscored the progressive leadership shaping Nigeria’s aviation industry under Keyamo’s watch.
Other notable aviation officials at the event included Dr. Anastasia Gbem, Director of Human Resources at the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA); Mrs. Rita Egbadon, Director of Legal Services at NCAA; Mrs. Terese Iheanachor, Director of Safety, Electronics, and Engineering Services; Abimbola Ladipo, Director of Human Resources and Administration; and Mrs. Funke Adebayo Arowojobe, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at NiMET.
Keyamo’s recent string of awards highlights his efforts to modernize and reposition the aviation industry for greater efficiency and global competitiveness. Despite the accolades, industry observers note that the minister remains focused on delivering key reforms, with expectations of more milestones in the months ahead.
