Kwankwaso Joins ADC

March 30, (THEWILL) — Former NNPP presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections and leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement, Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has formally joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), with a call to all his supporters to register with the party.

Kwankwaso, who registered his membership of the party on Monday at his Miller Road residence, Kano, also urged his followers to obtain their voter registration cards to enable them to vote for the party’s candidates in the 2027 general elections.

This, he said, would enable them to be part of the efforts to make Nigeria better for all citizens.

“Today is a special day on which the foundation for change in the politics of Kano and Nigeria will be built. I, therefore, urge you to go and register with our great party and obtain your voter card to enable you to partake in the 2027 general elections.

“The 2027 general elections are very important for the nation and the citizens. On the election day, ensure that you go out with determination and passion to vote for the APC to enable the party to bring the desired change to Nigeria”, the former Governor of Kano State said.

In the future, he said, his followers would be asked to present their ADC membership card and voter registration card before they will be allowed entry into his Miller Road residence.

In his remarks, the ADC national chairman, Sen. David Mark, welcomed Sen.Kwankwaso and his supporters to the party.

“His Excellency, Dr Musa Rabiu Kwankwaso, I welcome you and millions of your supporters to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Today, we have come together in unity of purpose, conviction, and vision.

“Your coming to ADC is not merely a political statement, it is a deliberate response to the clarion call by well-meaning Nigerians for all opposition leaders to be united and present a common front to protect our democracy.

“Today marks a defining moment in the history of our democracy; it marks a special day in our journey to make Nigeria a better country and a more united nation.

“We stand together today, not just as one political party, but as people united to make our dear country, Nigeria, a better nation. Nigeria can be better and must work better for all Nigerians.

“Your joining the ADC represents our collective resolve to align with the people. The ruling party is determined to leave the people with no choice. Nigerians must have a choice. Nigerians must have the right to choose. In a democracy, participation is everything. And anything that is done to close the space on participation is a direct attack on democracy and must be resisted through all lawful means”, the former President of the Senate said.

The event was witnessed by thousands of supporters of the Kwankwasiyya movement drawn from all parts of the state and beyond.
