BEVERLY HILLS, December 18, (THEWILL) – The Lagos State government is bullish in its bid to construct the much-anticipated Fourth Mainland Bridge that is expected to link Lekki and environs to Ikorodu and the mainland.
Foremost civil and engineering companies, Julius Berger, China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), Kyeryong Construction Company, Pythagoras Holdings, CRCCCI Nigeria, China State Construction and Engineering Corporation Nigeria Limited, Bua International Limited and China Jiangxi International Economic & Technical Cooperation Company Limited are amongst the over 30 companies that have formally expressed interest to build the over 30-kilometre bridge under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) deal.
The governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu led-government had in November this year advertised for expression of interest from companies to build the bridge which when completed would ease the heavy gridlock in Ikoyi and Victoria Island. The bids were formally unsealed Wednesday in Ikeja, Lagos under the supervision of Aramide Adeyoye, the Special Adviser on Works and Infrastructure to Governor Sanwo-Olu.
Adeyoye said the bid opening was the first of the six stages before a winner would be selected.
Describing the process as very transparent, Adeyoye explained that since the state government did not have the cash for the project, it was strategic to fund it using the PPP model.
