June 01, (THEWILL) – In conformity with the ongoing Phase 1 of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit project, the Lagos State Government has announced the extension of traffic diversion on Muritala Mohammed Way, which will span from Wednesday, 1st June, 2022, till 30th September, 2022.
In a statement released by the Ministry of Transportation on Tuesday, which was made available to THEWILL, the Commissioner, Dr Frederic Oladeinde, explained that there will be a total lane closure to allow the contractor work without any inhibition during the course of the construction.
Oladeinde further stated that traffic on Muritala Mohammed way will be diverted to Ojuelegba-Tejuosho slip road, to link Muritala Mohammed Way.
The Commissioner assured that the site will be cordoned off for the safety of the citizenry, adding that emergency vehicles will be on ground to tow broken-down vehicles along the axis.
The Commissioner also stated that signages will be placed on the access roads with the State’s Traffic Management Authority to control movement and minimise inconveniences.
The State Government reiterated its continuous commitment towards the development of transport infrastructure within the metropolis, maintaining that it is vital for the Multi-modal Transportation System of the State Government, which will in turn boost the economic prowess of the citizenry.
