
November 13, (THEWILL) – The lawmaker representing Yabo/Shagari Federal Constituency of Sokoto State in the House of Representatives, Hon. Umar Yusuf Yabo, has distributed empowerment items worth millions of naira to his constituents.
Yabo, who was elected in the last general election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), doled out hundreds of motorcycles, school uniforms, exercise books, and cash grants to party women leaders.
Others include water pumping machines for irrigation, freezers and solar-powered street lights for off-grid communities within the constituency.
Distributing the items in Yabo town, headquarters of Yabo Local Government Area of the State on Sunday, Hon. Yabo thanked his constituents for choosing him to represent them in the National Assembly.
He promised that the items disbursed are just the beginning of many tides coming the way of the people in the constituency, saying, “More empowerment programs are in the pipeline until all political wards in the two council areas are covered.”
According to him, the empowerment initiative he embarked upon was part of his effort to appreciate the electorates for reposing confidence in him.
His words: “I will ensure that I bring lots of development in education, health, empowerment, and job opportunities to our young graduates”.
The lawmaker promised to attract more development to his constituency and by extension, Sokoto State in the years ahead.
Also speaking, the Yabo Local Government PDP, Alhaji Sabo Madawaki Yabo, said youth and women constitute the major population of people in Yabo and Shagari LGAs while assuring that PDP members in the National Assembly would all pay back to their constituency through empowerment.
He called on the good people of Yabo and Shagari local government areas of Sokoto State to support Hon Umar Yusuf Yabo (Dan Majen Yabo).
One of the guests and a member representing Gada/Goronyo Federal Constituency, Bashir Ahmed Gorau, described the lawmaker as a true representative of his people who always thinks of his constituency first on all matters in the National Assembly.
He said he is optimistic that Hon Yabo would perform wonderfully to move the constituency forward.
A cord section of the beneficiaries in an interview described the lawmaker as an exceptional leader and worthy representative of the people.
According to them, the empowerment initiative, if sustained, would go a long way in easing the current economic hardship faced by the people.
Highlight of the event was the handover of the items to the beneficiaries and the announcement of the Federal Civil Service Commission’s employment offers to four youths of the constituency.
