November 25, (THEWILL) — A high-level aviation dialogue aimed at strengthening the competitiveness and long-term viability of Nigerian airlines on the London route is set to hold in Lagos, following Air Peace’s successful commencement of operations into London Heathrow.
Organisers said former Director-General of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Dr Harold Demuren, will deliver the keynote address, while Air Peace Chairman, Dr Allen Onyema, will chair the session scheduled for Wednesday, 26 November, at the NCAA Annex Training Centre.
Chief Operating Officer of Saptco Communication Limited, Mr Sam Adurogboye, told journalists that the forum—titled “International Politics: The Survival of Nigerian Carriers on the London Route”—will equip local airlines with the insight needed to navigate complex aero-political realities and improve profitability on international routes.
“As competition intensifies on the Nigeria–London corridor and geopolitical dynamics influence market access, this engagement will examine the interplay between international aviation politics, regulatory frameworks, bilateral air service agreements, and the commercial challenges confronting Nigerian carriers,” Adurogboye said.
He noted that with Air Peace now flying the London route, the discussion will focus on the operational, economic, and competitive pressures facing indigenous airlines in a market long dominated by foreign operators.
The lecture will also identify policy gaps, opportunities for government intervention, and strategies for improving Nigeria’s leverage in international aviation markets, while encouraging stronger collaboration among stakeholders.
Dr Demuren, widely regarded for his expertise in global aviation regulation and safety oversight, is expected to provide deep insights into how policy decisions, negotiations, and diplomatic engagements shape the sustainability of international routes.
Adurogboye added that Saptco Communication Limited is convening the event as part of its commitment to promoting informed dialogue, policy clarity, and growth within Nigeria’s aviation industry.
