July 10 (THEWILL) — Operatives of the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation And Safety Corps( So-Safe) have arrested a 43-year-old suspect, Abraham Micheal over the alleged abduction and rape of a teenager in Gasline, Sango.
The suspect was said to have kidnapped the 19-year-old victim since July 2, 2026, and demanded a ransom of N60,000.
He was arrested following a distressed call received from the Shepherd-in-Charge, Celestial Church of Christ, Christ Light Parish, Ijoko, Pastor Oluwaseyi Popoola.
The Corps’ Commander, Dr. Soji Ganzallo disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen by the Director of Information and Public Relations, ACC Adegunwa Adegbuyi, in Abeokuta, the state capital, yesterday.
Ganzallo said that upon the receipt of the information about the missing teenager and her unknown whereabouts, the operatives of Sango-Adalemo-Toll Gate Division swung into action and arrested the suspect at Gasoline road, Sango.
He stated:
“On Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at about 10pm, the Divisional Officer, Sango-Adalemo-Toll gate Divisional Headquarters, SC Okunuga Joseph, received credible information from the pastor of a missing 19-year-old lady, Miss Liasu Pelumi.
“Furthermore in his explanation, the complaint said, the victim was under his care and had been missing for several days. In the course of searching for her, he received a phone call from an individual, demanding a ransom of ₦60,000 for her release.
“Acting swiftly and working on a tip-off from a member of the community, operatives of the Sango-Adalemo-Toll Gate Division, with the approval of the Zonal Commander, Ado-Odo Ota, Zonal Command, ACC Tajudeen Odunmbaku, mobilized to the suspect’s address at Idowu Akinsanya Street, along Babaonigba, Gasline Road, Sango.
“On arriving at the said address, the suspect tried to divert the operatives from the actual location where the suspect was held but the officers stayed on course, the victim was rescued and the suspect was arrested.
“During interrogation, the suspect admitted that the victim had been in his custody from July 2, 2026”
The Commander said that the case has been transferred to the Nigeria Police Force, Sango Divisional Headquarters for further investigation and possible prosecution.
He assured members of the public that the Command remains committed to the protection of lives and property.
He encouraged members of the public to always provide reliable information about any suspicious movement or activities to the agency for prompt action.
