Matawalle Loses Reelection As INEC Declares Lawa Zamfara Governor-elect

March 21, (THEWILL) – Zamfara State Governor, Muhammad Bello Matawalle of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has lost his reelection bid to the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dauda Lawal.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Returning Officer for the governorship election in the State, Prof. Kassimu Shehu, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, declared Lawal governor-elect on Tuesday morning.

Prof. Shehu said Lawal polled 377,726 votes to defeat the incumbent Governor, who scored 311,976.

“I, Prof. Kassimu Shehu of the Federal University Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, certify that I am the INEC Returning Officer for Zamfara State.

“That Dr. Lawal Dauda of the PDP, having satisfied the requirements of the law, is declared winner and returned elected,” Prof. Shehu declared.
