Mayor Of Atlanta Declares November 18 ‘Davido Day’

November 23, (THEWILL) – Atlanta Mayor, Andre Dickens, has acknowledged the contribution of Nigerian-American Afrobeat singer, David Adeleke, also known as Davido, to the entertainment scene in the city of Atlanta.

After Davido’s recent A.W.A.Y Festival at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, the Mayor and the Atlanta City Council declared November 18th as ‘Davido Day’ in honour of the singer.

In a birthday message to the singer on November 21, 2023, the Mayor acknowledged that Davido has captivated audiences worldwide, becoming a global icon in the music industry.

Expressing gratitude on behalf of the City of Atlanta, the Mayor thanked Davido for his tireless efforts as a renowned singer, songwriter, producer, business leader, philanthropist, and community advocate. The message highlighted Davido’s remarkable career, numerous accolades, and ongoing commitment to giving back to communities in the United States and throughout Africa.

The Atlanta City Council, in an official statement, declared, “Be it resolved that we, the members of the Atlanta City Council, on behalf of the citizens of Atlanta, do hereby proclaim November 18, 2023, as Davido Day in the City of Atlanta.”

Furthermore, the Fulton County Board of Commissioners has also recognised and honoured Davido. The Board proclaimed November 21st as ‘Davido Appreciation Day’ in the City of Fulton County, Georgia.

“Be it resolved that the Fulton County Board of Commissioners recognises David for his contributions to the music and entertainment industry, and does hereby proclaim Tuesday, November 21, 2023 ‘Davido Appreciation Day’ in Fulton County, Georgia,” the Board said in a statement.
